Cherished Registrations
Guide To Buying... Also by Tender & On-Line
1) Select your registration(s): Decide which number you want - should it be for its sole attractiveness or maybe its your initials, it could be a number that has special meaning to your personality.
2) Set yourself an affordable price limit: Use our "Ready Reckoner" to help you, remember if you are bidding from the mainland UK, there may be further transfer costs.
3) Decide how much you would like to bid: You can bid in person at the Auction, by telephone or post. Telephone and Postal bids need to be arranged prior to 4.00pm on the Monday before the sale - these type of bids will not be accepted after this date.
4) Fill in the appropriate sections of the bidders registration form: The bidders form is self explanatory, just fill in the sections according to which way you want to bid.
5) A Nominee is required to state the name of the person whose vehicle the mark is to be registered on (if different from registered bidder)
You need to complete the Nominee section if:
- You are the registered bidder and you wish to assign the registration number to a vehicle registered in someone else’s name or a company name. You need to name them, or the company, as the nominee.
- You are registering as a bidder in a company name and you wish to assign the registration to a vehicle registered in your own name. You must name yourself as the nominee.
- If you live in the mainland UK and wish to have your number registered in N. Ireland and then transferred to the mainland, you should source a nominee before bidding. Wilsons Auctions can provide a list of companies who belong to the Registration Dealers Association (NI) who will do this for you for a fee.
Nominee details must be provided when you register to bid.
After payment to Wilsons Auctions, nominee details may only be added or changed through the DVA at the cost of £25.00 by completing the section ‘To Add or change Nominee Details’ on the Certificate of Entitlement. For more information about Nominees please call our Cherished Registration Dept on 028 90969007.
6) Are you bidding from the UK Mainland? Northern Ireland numbers have to be first registered in Northern Ireland and then transferred to the mainland - therefore further costs may apply - you will need to fill in the nominee form, with the name of the person in Northern Ireland who is going to register the number for you. We have a list of dealers in the "Northern Ireland Registration Dealers Association" (available on request) who will do this for you for a fee.
7) Identification - Photocopies only:
Identification is required from all the bidders in two forms:
Driving License or Passport
AND
Electric/Telephone/Gas bill or copy of your credit card.
8) Register for bidding: (Making sure you stick to the deadline for telephone and postal bids)
When you have fully completed yor bidders registeration form, you can register - remember if you wish to bid by post or phone, submit your form before the deadline (the Monday before the sale at 4.00pm) either by fax or by post with the appropriate identification as required. If you are attending in person you can also pre-register before this date, this will save any queuing on the day of the auction - again send the appropriate identication and your bidders' number will be forwarded to you.
9) Join in the Auction: In Person: Bid for your registration number by holding your bidders' number in the air making sure the auctioneer can see it.
By Telephone: Make sure your telephone line is free as one of our staff will be trying to call you. They will tell you what the current bidding situation is and you can decide whether or not to go higher than the bidder in the Auction hall. Please have an idea of what you will be bidding as the situation is very fast and you will need to be quick in deciding to go higher or not.
By Post: We will bid on your behalf.
10) Paying for your Registration(s)
Payment is strictly on receipt of invoice and must be paid by cash, cheque, credit/debit card (credit card charge applies) at the casheirs office straight after you bid. Your Certificate of Entitlement will be issued directly to you within 21 days after payment is received and funds cleared.
11) Additional Charges
On top of the bid price there is VAT payable at the current rate, plus 10% Buyers Premium (a minimum of £25 per plate) plus VAT together with a DVA Assignment Fee of £80. 1) Select your registration(s): Decide which number you want - should it be for its sole attractiveness or maybe its your initials, it could be a number that has special meaning to your personality.
If you are a member of the public requiring only one number, only bid for one number as if you are successful in more than one number you will be expected to pay for ALL successful bids.
It is not possible to bid on a variety of numbers and if you don't get one, you take the other one. All bids placed must be genuine bids.
Also, in a sale by Tender, you will have the opportunity to purchase more than one Cherished Registration Mark in one lot.
This means one bid price for more than one Cherished Registration Mark.
Multiple Number lots cannot be split i.e. your bid applies to ALL Registration Marks detailed in that lot. Each Registration Mark attracts an assignment fee in the normal way, for example: if you purchase two registration numbers in one lot there will be two assignment fees.
2) Set yourself an affordable price limit: Use our "Ready Reckoner" to help you, remember if you are bidding from the mainland UK, there may be further transfer costs.
3) Decide how much you would like to bid: Auction results detailing previous prices achieved are not published or given out for registrations sold by tender. You must gauge your bid on how much you are willing to spend or look at the auction results for registrations sold by Public Auction. Minimum bid amount is £50.
4) Fill in the appropriate sections of the bidders registration form: The bidders form is self explanatory, just fill in the section regarding your contact details and then submit bids for the numbers you wish to purchase. A crossed blank cheque made payable to Wilson's Auctions or credit/debit card details must accompany the tender form for payment of any successful bids.
5) Are you buying the number for yourself? If you are buying the number as a present for someone, you will need to fill in the "nominee" section on this registration form because the "Certificate of Entitlement" for the number has to be in the name of the person whose vehicle it will be registered on. If you do not do this before the auction, you will have to pay a DVA fee of £25 to change the nominee later.
